He's not perfect
I met Sinead and Paul in 2011 and within half and hour they had booked me to photograph their wedding two years later. Truth be told, so taken with this young couple, I'd probably have done the wedding free of charge. Right from the start Sinead had this way of looking at her finance - love, admiration, respect. There was just something about that look that really impressed me and I told Paul many times that he was a lucky man to have such a beautiful women look at him just so.
Sinead and Paul
I'm a lucky man myself.
I asked her to marry me in 1977.
She started going out with me in 1978.
And we married in 1979!
As we approach another Valentine's Day I thought about many of the lucky men I have photographed - and the women who gave them that look.
None of them perfect, but....
“He’s not perfect. You aren’t either, and the two of you will never be perfect. But if he can make you laugh at least once, causes you to think twice, and if he admits to being human and making mistakes, hold onto him and give him the most you can. He isn’t going to quote poetry, he’s not thinking about you every moment, but he will give you a part of him that he knows you could break. Don’t hurt him, don’t change him, and don’t expect for more than he can give. Don’t analyze. Smile when he makes you happy, yell when he makes you mad, and miss him when he’s not there. Love hard when there is love to be had. Because perfect guys don’t exist, but there’s always one guy that is perfect for you.”
